But not necessarily a NEW third party or Unity '08. Even though it depends on how the parties actually get things done, it could be just another "Third Way" which is just the middle of what we got and will get more of the same. The winner take all construction of the whole process mitigates against a third party, except as a broker or a spoiler. Forces of good, rather than unity, should pick a side and influence it, but even that has pragmatic problems in that the good is divided. On the other hand: upon further "hard work" they may be able to be just that broker. So rather than the spread of Second Lives, maybe a Fourth Way, is upon us, but it will depend upon the actions/reactions of candidates as well.]

Unity08 seems to be a bit like something I saw happening, but originating from candidates. I could maybe imagine Lamar Alexander and Barack Obama, or Ron Paul and Lyndon LaRouche. But of these the inclusion of Barack Obama is only based on his demonstrated work with some across the aisle. LaMar Alexander being relatively moderate, but who isn't compared to most Republicans, other than Ron Paul(Libertarian) and Lyndon LaRouche claiming to be an FDR Dem.
Otherwise (and I really have not dug into these candidates too deep) but the concept of Unity08 which I have barely scratched the surface on, seems to have too much "hard work" to be attractive, let alone work.
The greatest danger is from the potential draining of good people from either party. At this point the Democrats have the most to lose, while Republicans may have nothing to lose. In fact after all this consideration, another bit of what I saw happening was another party just so that Republicans could rid themselves of the history of Bush, as I usually get to some point last, if at all, was he not "the uniter"? That is the concept that scares me most, maybe more than the "hard work" that scares others.
